Evan’s NHL Daily: Swayman Scuttlebutt, Canucks Goaltending Concerns
As of right now, there are only two goalies in the NHL making $10 million or more next season. Could another goalie join them in the $10 million club next season? If you believe some of the rumors, that’s what Jeremy Swayman is looking for…but not everyone believes those rumors.
Speaking of goaltenders, the Vancouver Canucks have one of the better ones in the league, but that only matters if they can stay in the net. It sounds like there’s a chance that Thatcher Demko might not be ready for training camp, which could be a big problem for the team that was the NHL’s biggest surprise last year.

He’s working to make it back in time, but former first round pick Mikhail Gulyayev might miss time to start the KHL season.
News And Rumors
The Athletic: When Thatcher Demko went down in the playoffs, I doubt the Canucks thought that his injury might linger into next season. Based off reports, that’s exactly what’s going to happen, as the Canucks appear as though they’ll have to open camp without Thatcher Demko.
This would be a big problem for Vancouver if Demko doesn’t recover in time for the season. He’s an elite goalie in the NHL, and the Canucks were a team that benefited greatly from strong goaltending. I don’t see them winning the Pacific again without Demko.
Boston Hockey Now: Does Jeremy Swayman actually want $10 million a season? The young goaltender isn’t signed yet, and according to Andrew Raycroft, Swayman hasn’t had to deal with a tough stretch like most starting goaltenders.
Here’s the link of where the $10 million rumor came from. I can’t imagine he gets that much. His numbers are fantastic, but he’s never had to be a workhorse at the NHL level. That might change this season with no Ullmark around, but $10 seems like a stretch.

San Jose Hockey Now: Eight different NHL league sources chimed in with their thoughts on Yaroslav Askarov. (+)
Philly Hockey Now: As of now, they’ve terminated his contract, but he’s certain to put up a fight. Why the Flyers might have chosen this route with Ryan Johansen.
New Jersey Hockey Now: They should be better than they were last year, but what does the depth chart look like for the New Jersey Devils?
