Flynn’s Take: How Does Kaapo Kahkonen Need to Change His Game?

It’s no secret the Colorado Avalanche have struggled between the pipes to start the season. For that reason, management signed Kaapo Kahkonen off waivers on Oct. 11. The 28-year-old Finn started his first game in the 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. But the defeat wasn’t all on him.

“Look at those four goals โ€” like he probably wants the first one back. It’s a great shot, right in the slot, one timer, well placed. The other three โ€” he’s got no chance. So it is what it is,” head coach Jared Bednar said after the loss. “And then he was good, he made a lot of nice saves, and I don’t think outside of those chances, they were super dangerous, but he did a nice job. You can’t fault him for any of those goals.”
