Avalanche Place Goalie Kaapo Kahkonen on Waivers
Goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen is back on waivers. The Avalanche made the move on Monday ahead of their meeting against the Nashville Predators at Ball Arena. If Kahkonen clears, he’s eligible to be sent down to the American Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles.
Will be interesting to see if #NHLJets or another team puts in a claim for Kaapo Kahkonen. Would imagine the Jets would have some interest in having him for organizational depth if they put in the only claim and could send him to #MBMoose of #AHL https://t.co/9nsJxOyB0S

Kahkonen was claimed off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets a month ago. The move came following an 8-4 season-opening loss to the Vegas Golden Knights where both Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen struggled. While Colorado’s goaltending is still not quite where the team hopes for it to be, things have settled down in that department quite a bit over the past week or so.

Georgiev is making his third consecutive start against the Preds after having two solid efforts in Colorado’s last two games. And Annunen has been playing decent, boasting a 5-2-0 record and a .894 save percentage.
In Kahkonen’s one Avalanche appearance, he surrendered four goals on 20 shots against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game where Colorado’s roster was severely shorthanded. The Avs lost 5-2.
