Deen’s Daily: Avalanche Complete Perfect Weekend; Laine’s Impact in Montreal
The Avalanche completed a perfect 2-0-0 weekend with back-to-back road wins.
It began in Detroit on Saturday, where they scored the first two goals and only surrendered one the rest of the way. The game was near perfect, but most importantly it was a strong bounceback from Alexandar Georgiev, who made his first start since the four-goal meltdown in Buffalo earlier in the week.

But on Sunday, the Avs made the extra save and were closer to perfect — completing what was arguably their best 60-minute effort of the season. The Avs shut out the Devils off the back of Scott Wedgewood and his 25 saves.

Detroit Hockey Now: Catch another angle from Saturday’s victory here. Our team in Motor City wrote about the Avalanche’s ability to close out games with ease. It’s always nice to see what other teams or writers think about the Avs from afar.

Montreal Hockey Now: We’re all still trying to figure out exactly what Patrik Laine is. Is he the guy who exploded onto the scene with the Winnipeg Jets to start his career? Or the player that mostly struggled in Columbus? Was his play simply affected by the off-ice personal matters?
In Montreal, he had two goals in his first two games. But, what exactly should you expect from Laine?
