Nathan MacKinnon Gets NHL 2nd Star of the Week
Nathan MacKinnon has been awarded the NHL’s Second Star of the Week (for the week ending Dec. 15) for the second time this season.
The 29-year-old elite forward was named the No. 2 Star for the week ending Nov. 10 after he earned nine points in two games. His latest accolade comes off another nine-point week throughout three games. He scored four goals and assisted on five others โ one was the only score in the 4-1 loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Dec. 12.

The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia native leads the league in points with 50 and earned his second five-point game โ the ninth of his career โ against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 10. He was the first to hit the 50-point mark this season.
He is No. 1 in the League in assists (37), and even-strength assists (26). He ranks second league-wide in even-strength points (36) and shots on goal (126).
MacKinnon is second on the team for game-winning goals, two behind his linemate Mikko Rantanen. He has three power-play goals, two fewer than Rantanen and one less than Ross Colton and Cale Makar.
Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl took the No. 1 spot of the week with nine points in three games and two GWGs. The Third Star went to the Ottawa Senators’ goaltender, Linus Ullmark, who posted one shutout and earned a .967 save percentage.
