Deen’s Daily: Avalanche Defeat Georgiev; Blackwood Reflects on San Jose Career; Hughes Shoots But Doesn’t Score

Mackenzie Blackwood reflected on his career with the Sharks following morning skate and then went out and beat his former team hours later. Meanwhile, a strong first two periods from Alexandar Georgiev turned into a nightmare loss against the Avalanche. Jack Hughes had a hilarious amount of shots against Columbus and Sidney Crosby turned the clock back against Nashville.

Colorado Hockey Now

Just 10 days following a goalie trade between the two clubs, the Avs met San Jose at SAP Center for the second time this season. Blackwood got the nod in goal for the Avs and made 32 saves to earn the win over Georgiev’s Sharks. But the star of the show was a depth forward.

San Jose Hockey Now: Blackwood spoke to media following morning skate — a rarity for a goaltender playing later that night. Sheng Peng in San Jose was there to cover the presser and wrote about the goalie sharing that he was open to a contract extension. New Jersey Hockey Now: The New Jersey Devils went into Columbus riding a three-game winning streak but were stymied by goalie Elvis Merzlikins. The goalie made 41 saves. Hughes had an insane amount of shots but every single one was stopped.
