Cale Makar Makes History with Spectacular Goal

Published

on

Cale Makar reached a significant milestone against the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon. His goal at 10:31 in the second period was No. 100 for the 26-year-old defenseman.

Hitting the century mark of career goals in 362 games is a remarkable achievement, especially considering he’s the sixth-fastest defenseman in NHL history to do so. While he’s slightly behind the likes of Bobby Orr (299 games) and Paul Coffey (300 games), Makar’s pace underscores his generational talent as an offensive defenseman.

It’s even more impressive when you factor in the NHL he’s playing in—defensemen face faster, more structured defenses and elite goaltending compared to earlier decades. Makar continues to build an incredible resume at such a young age.

The Avs elite blueliner, known for his electrifying skating, offensive prowess, and exceptional hockey IQ, achieved the feat in just his fifth season in the league.

The Calgary, Alberta native already has the Calder Memorial Trophy, Conn Smythe Trophy, and Norris Trophy on his list of achievements—plus the NHL’s holy grail, the Stanley Cup. He regularly breaks and sets new records for defensemen.

Makar currently leads the league’s blueliners with 51 points and is No. 2 in goals with 14. Vancouver Canucks’ Quinn Hughes has one more assist (38) than Makar for the top spot among D-men.
