The NHL Trade deadline is exactly six weeks away and my first edition of the CHN trade board is live. Check out who the Avs could target before March 7.

In their last game of the homestand, the Avalanche fell 3-2 in OT to the Winnipeg Jets. The game was better than the one before it, but the lack of accountability in the locker room afterward spoke volumes.

The vibes did get better on Thursday when the team practiced one last time before heading out on a three-game road trip. Wood is expected to play during the trip, potentially as early as Saturday.

Around the NHL

Ovi watch: Alex Ovechkin added an empty netter against the Seattle Kraken to pull within 20 goals of Wayne Gretzky. If he continues to score at the pace he has all year, he’d be set to surpass The Great One on April 10 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Ottawa Hockey Now: The Senators are 5-4-2 over the past 11 games. They’ve got three shutouts in that stretch. yet, somehow, they’ve also been shutout five times. They lost 3-0 to the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Boston Hockey Now: Joonas Korpisalo was in goal for the shutout and Mike DiPietro was called up to sit on the bench following an injury to Jeremy Swayman.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Jacob Markstrom could be out for weeks following an injury suffered on Wednesday. His participation in the 4 Nations Faceoff could be in jeopardy.

San Jose Hockey Now: Crazy set of games between the Sharks and Preds. This time it was San Jose erasing a multi-goal deficit but they couldn’t get the job done in the end.

Philadelphia Hockey Now: The Flyers’ point streak was snapped by the suddenly hot New York Rangers.

Montreal Hockey Now: The Habs didn’t quite look like the team they’ve been for the past month on Thursday.

Vegas Hockek Now: The Knights snapped their losing streak with a win over St. Louis.
