Colorado Hockey Now
Trade talk is buzzing at this time of the year. The deadline is still 32 days away but with the 4 Nations Faceoff around the corner, several teams have gotten early business done. Of course, this all began with a stunning trade that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes.
But could the Avs be up to another sizeable move? Frank Seravalli believes there’s at least a chance that Mittelstadt will be dealt before March 7.
In my weekly Monday Notebook, I also focused on the trade market. I wrote about how the Avalanche should focus their efforts on trying to upgrade their defense.
Reports from a local Avalanche media member say that Comcast and Altitude TV are nearing an agreement to return Avalanche games to Xfinity cable packages.
Around the NHL
Ryan Hartman: The NHL handed out a 10-game suspension to Minnesota’s Ryan Hartman for a play where he intended to injury Senators center Tim Stutzle off a faceoff. Hartman has been suspended four times and fined seven other times in his NHL career. He’ll be forfeiting nearly $500,000 for his latest actions.
From the @NHLPlayerSafety video explanation: "It is important to note that this is not a hockey play. Hartman contends that he is attempting to use his hand to regain his balance using Stützle for support and that their fall to the ice is accidental. We disagree." pic.twitter.com/BWlHRsip3s
