Altitude TV, Comcast End Dispute; Avalanche Games Return to Xfinity

The Altitude TV dispute with Comcast is over.

Avalanche and Nuggets ownership, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and Comcast announced Tuesday that Altitude Sports is returning to Xfinity TV for all customers throughout Colorado and neighboring states.

“We are thrilled to once again make Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche games available on Comcast and Xfinity platforms in Colorado and the surrounding region,” KSE vice chairman Josh Kroenke said. “This is the best possible outcome for Nuggets Nation and Avs Faithful, who now have a straightforward way to see every game on one service.”

Effective immediately, Xfinity customers can get access to Altitude via the More Sports and Entertainment Package. The add-on is priced at $9.99 but will be going up to $15.95 in April.

Along with Altitude Sports, this package also includes the Big Ten Network, CBS Sports, ESPN News, ESPNU, MLB, NFL, and NHL Network, and NFL Redzone.

Altitude Sports will remain available on all of its other current carriers, including the new Altitude+ streaming app that was released last fall. There also won’t be any changes to the already scheduled free over-the-air broadcasts for a handful of games on 9News and My20.

Avalanche and Nuggets fans have been unable to watch their local teams on Comcast and Xfinity services since the dispute began in August 2019. The stalemate between Comcast and KSE dragged through the COVID pause and still didn’t reach its end during a two-year span where the Avs won the Stanley Cup and the Nuggets were crowned NBA champions.

This story was first reported by Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports late Monday evening.

How bad is the Altitude app?
itโ€™s a serious POS.

Exactly. The worst things: you can’t pause for more than a few seconds and continue. Coverage lost. It’s set to 2.5 hours and doesn’t auto-continue, so you get cut off when the game is close with four minutes to go, and then the post-game doesn’t start until the game is over. I’ve missed huge goals. Almost no games end in 2.5 hours, so you have to expect to get caught off just as someone pulls their goalie. Captioning often comes up and blocks half the screen but can’t be turned off when I’m watching on my computer. i spent good… Read more »

KSE and Comcast should seriously offer free carriage to subscribers in the Avs/Nuggets territory for the remainder of the NBA and NHL seasons. Way too much damage has been done the past 5 years. Show some good will folks.

This dispute was all about money and you think they’re going to give people something for free?

Yeah thatโ€™s the last thing either company would do. The real losers are the fans that waited over 5 years for Kroenke to accept this outcome

He was merely stating what they “should” do, not what they were actually “going” to do. Pretty obvious.

Too little too late. Comcast is no longer needed to watch Avโ€™s games. DirecTV streaming and uzzu.tv are cheaper ways than Comcast.
