Deen’s Daily: Lindgren Joins Avs; Panthers Get Jones; Vegas Eyeing Another Blockbuster Deal

The Avs traded for a defenseman, and then the Florida Panthers acquired the biggest name on the blueline market. The forward market, however, hasn’t shaken free yet. But do the Vegas Golden Knights have another blockbuster deal in their arsenal?
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — March 2.
Colorado Hockey Now
So you’re telling me in the span of a week the Avalanche lost two winnable games on the road, got Valeri Nichushkin back, turned things around and won two great games at home, then traded for Ryan Lindgren?
What a blur.
Let’s start with the latest news first. Here are all the details of the latest Avalanche trade, the fifth deal Chris MacFarland has pulled off since opening night. One of the players going to New York is a forward the Avs acquired two months ago. That’s how active and aggressive the front office has been.
But I don’t think for a second that they’re done. I broke down the deal in its entirety in my latest Deen’s View story. There, I discussed exactly that: The Avalanche are not done. The deadline is five days away, and they’re exploring all options to get better.
Going back to Friday’s huge win, I wrote my 10 Observations from that game. There’s a ton of good stuff in this one linked below, with a peak behind the scenes at some sights and sounds from the Avs’ room post-game.
Most importantly, the Valeri Nichushkin whisperer is at it again.

The Panthers made this deal after shutting out the Flames.

Detroit Hockey Now: In an outdoor game at Ohio State, the Red Wings, playing for an important two points, lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets for the second time in three days. Their pre-game fit was special, though.
NYI Hockey Now: There’s still a thought that Lou Lamoriello is holding up the forward trade market. The latest Isles victory isn’t going to help with that. Also… Goalie goal!
San Jose Hockey Now: The Sharks blew a third-period lead. They’ve got just five wins since trading Mackenzie Blackwood almost three months ago.
Philly Hockey Now: The Winnipeg Jets couldn’t get more than one puck past Ivan Fedotov.
