Deen’s Daily: Gretzky Set To Travel for the GR8 Chase; Another Epic Habs Performance; Avs on the Road

The Great One is set to start traveling with the Capitals until his record is broken. The Avalanche are back on the road looking to officially lock up their playoff spot. Also, the Habs just won’t quit.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 2.
Colorado Hockey Now
The Avs held an optional practice on Tuesday before departing for Chicago. The Avs kick off a three game road trip against the Blackhawks tonight, before playing the Columbus Blue Jackets tomorrow and ending with a rematch against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
This team needs something, anything, to play for.
Around The NHL
Montreal Hockey Now: What an unbelievable comeback and ending for the Habs on Tuesday. It’s tough not to root for this team right now. They’re doing their part to keep ahead of the pack for the final wildcard spot in the East.
Detroit Hockey Now: Another team in the wildcard race, the Red Wings let an important point slip away. Also, one of their top prospects informed them that they’re going to remain in college for another year.
NYI Hockey Now: The Isles blew it against Tampa Bay. I don’t think they had much chance to qualify before this loss, but they’re likely down and out for sure at this point.
Boston Hockey Now: We’ve got another Alex Ovechkin goal and another Bruins loss. Washington’s captain is four(!!!) goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the all-time goals record. Given that he’s only four goals away, I believe the plan is to have Gretzky follow Ovechkin and the Caps around until the record is broken.
Ottawa Hockey Now: The Sabres aren’t going to the playoffs again this year, but at least they can say they swept the Ottawa Senators.
Vegas Hockey Now: With the Golden Knights’ spot in the playoffs official, the Avs are the next team in the West that can clinch.
Philadelphia Hockey Now: Don’t rule Matvei Michkov out of the Calder Trophy race yet.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: When you’re not going to the playoffs, all you can do is look ahead to next year. Here’s a way-too-early look at next year’s Penguins lineup.
