Deen’s Daily: Gabriel Landeskog Could Dress For The Colorado Eagles on Friday

All eyes are on the AHL and Loveland, Colorado, this weekend. One of the NHL’s best people passed away on Wednesday. Also, the Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers scored a ton of goals.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 10.
Colorado Hockey Now
On Wednesday, Gabriel Landeskog was officially loaned to the AHL’s Colorado Eagles on a conditioning assignment. He practiced with them a couple of hours later and is preparing to potentially dress for them this weekend to test out his knee.
As of right now (7 a.m. MT on Thursday), nothing has officially been announced. But the plan, as far as I know, is for Landeskog to meet with the media tonight, just before Colorado takes on the Vancouver Canucks in the home finale. It would be his first presser since May of 2024. This is subject to change, but my understanding is that this is what is currently planned.
He’ll be at Ball Arena regardless since it’s ‘Jerseys Off Our Backs’ Night.
The assumption is, Landeskog will announce at his media conference that he’s going to play for the Eagles as early as Friday, and, depending on how things go, could be inching towards an NHL comeback in the postseason. This part is entirely a prediction on my part. But it makes sense.
For us to even get to this point is shocking, given how much negativity there was around his recovery in early March. It’s crazy that we’re heading to the conclusion of this saga.
We’re all rooting for him. If he dresses for the Eagles on Friday, I’ll be there covering the game.
Around the NHL
San Jose Hockey Now: Remember all those crazy scores from the games on Tuesday? That continued the following night, starting with this INSANE matchup between the Sharks and the Minnesota Wild on Friday.
The Wild got two crucial points. That, along with the Calgary Flames falling in OT to Anaheim, has all but locked up Minnesota and St. Louis’ playoff spots as the two wildcard seeds. Albeit there’s still a slight chance the Flames can jump one of them. Very slight chance.
Philadelphia Hockey Now: Keep the crazy scores coming. The Flyers defeated the NY Rangers 8-5.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Terrible news in the hockey world on Wednesday. Former Penguins GM Ray Shero passed away at the age of 62. Shero was at the helm when the Pens won the first of three Stanley Cups in the Sidney Crosby era in 2009. I’ll never forget that night, at Joe Louis Arena.
New Jersey Hockey Now: That Rangers loss officially clinched the Devils’ playoff spot.
