Deen’s Daily: Demidov Lives Up To Hype; Will Landeskog Be Ready For Playoffs?

Published

on

The Avs captain had a successful weekend. Is he aiming for a playoff return this weekend? In Montreal, a rookie made his debut, and it lived up to the hype. Also, a suspension in New Jersey before the playoffs, and a longtime San Jose Sharks forward is ready to call it a career.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 15.

Colorado Hockey Now

It’s a waiting game for the Avalanche right now. They became the first team to complete their regular season on Sunday, and that remained the same when the games ended on Monday. The team will practice today at 11 am, albeit it’s just an optional skate. That tells me they’re taking full advantage of their five days off and using an extra day to give some of the dinged-up guys more off-ice treatment before having a full-team practice.

At the time this was written, we are not yet sure if Gabriel Landeskog is going to skate at Family Sports later this morning or if he’s remaining in Loveland to practice with the Eagles. His weekend went better than expected. Are the Avalanche about to get their locker room leader back?

Around The NHL

Montreal Hockey Now: Ivan Demidov absolutely lived up to the hype in his NHL debut on Monday. But a serious officiating error was the story when all was said and done.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Head coach Mike Sullivan called out a major problem. What will general manager Kyle Dubas do?

New Jersey Hockey Now: Two games remain in the regular season for the Devils and Paul Cotter was suspended for both. Here’s why.

San Jose Hockey Now: There’s a press conference coming in San Jose later today, where it has been reported that Logan Couture will be announcing his retirement.

Florida Hockey Now: The Panthers are for sure starting on the road in Round 1 following Monday’s loss to the Rangers.

Speaking of anticipated players (Demidov)…

I saw MN signed Zeev Buium and should have him available for their final game and the playoffs. He will definitely make the Mild a more difficult team to play against. I believe he will be a Calder finalist next season.

Hated seeing Minny draft himโ€ฆ

Ari Sachter-Smith

Same, canโ€™t believe he fell to them. Heโ€™s going to be a stud

Luke Waggoner

EJ on Spittin Chiclets said it looks like they’ll be getting Landy back for game 1.

Tazer when he was asked if Landy plays game 1 said “Tune in and find out.”

I’m officially hyped.
