Deen’s Daily: Bigger Role For Landeskog; Mayhem in Montreal; Oilers Survive

Gabe Landeskog played his first game and now he’s getting a bigger role. The Habs dominated Washington in front of an electric crowd at Bell Centre. Also, the Oilers… Well, they played a vintage Oilers game.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 26.
Colorado Hockey Now
Remember how most of the hockey world was just recently wondering if Landeskog would be able to play hockey again?
Just three days after making his remarkable return to the NHL, Landeskog is set to play a bigger role for the Avs to try and spark the team’s offense after two straight OT losses. I’m curious to see if it works. But, like head coach Jared Bednar, I was thoroughly impressed with how well the captain looked, even while shaking off some rust.
Big game tonight. Let’s see if the Avs can even the series.
Stanley Cup Playoffs Recap
Washington Capitals vs Montreal Canadiens: The game of the night. The Bell Centre crowd showed up as usual, and the Habs fed off of that to obliterate the Caps 6-3 and dominate from start to finish. The “Old Time Hockey” mixed into this game made it all the more entertaining.
Carolina Hurricanes vs New Jersey Devils: The Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Carolina fought back to force OT. In the end, New Jersey won in double overtime to get back in the series.
Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers: The worst lead in hockey was at it again. The Oilers fed off the home crowd to jump out to a 2-0 lead before surrendering three straight goals. They eventually tied it up late in the second, but the Kings scored again nine seconds later. That still wasn’t enough offense. Four goals later, Edmonton won 7-4 to get one back in the series.

Around The NHL
SUSPENSION: Brandon Hagel was handed a one-game suspension for hitting Aleksander Barkov in Game 3. The Bolts will need to dig deep to avoid falling behind 3-0 against Florida for the second year in a row.
Philly Hockey Now: They didn’t make the playoffs and had to fire their coach late in the season, but are things finally turning around for the Flyers?
Boston Hockey Now: The Bruins are sending six players to the IIHF World Championships. Three of them are playing for Team USA (none of whom are Casey Mittelstadt).
Vegas Hockey Now: Despite falling behind 2-1, the Golden Knights are still confident. I’m guessing they’re not interested in falling behind 3-1 in their series tonight.
