Deen’s Daily: Oilers Won’t Go Away; Nightmare Scenario For Hellebuyck; How Is Landeskog Doing This?

The Avalanche’s captain continues to impress in his NHL return after a three-year absence. Also, the Edmonton Oilers just won’t go away, and Connor Hellebuyck is entering another nightmare playoff scenario.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 28.
Colorado Hockey Now
I’m not entirely sure how Gabe Landeskog is doing this. And that’s okay. It feels like Landeskog himself is taking this day by day as he navigates the resumption of his NHL career. I wrote about that, and more, in my latest 10 Observations piece the morning after the Avs’ dominant 4-0 Game 4 victory.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Recap
Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues: Connor Hellebuyck is in trouble. For the second time in two road games, the Jets’ starting goalie was pulled after allowing way too many goals. This time, Hellebuyck surrendered five on 18 shots and the Blues won 5-1. The series shifts back to Winnipeg for Game 5 tied at 2-2.
Carolina Hurricanes vs New Jersey Devils: The late comeback effort by the Devils wasn’t enough on Sunday. They lost 5-2 to the Canes and fell behind 3-1 in their first-round series. Carolina has a chance to close things out at home on Tuesday.
Washington Capitals vs Montreal Canadiens: The Habs had a lead entering the third period with an opportunity to tie the series up at 2-2. Instead, a four-goal outburst from the Caps in the final frame has Montreal on the brink of elimination.
Los Angeles Kings vs Edmonton Oilers: Once again, the Oilers needed late-game heroics to tie the game up after trailing by two goals. In the end, Leon Draisaitl got the winner in OT to make every Western Conference series 2-2 through four games.
