Deen’s Daily: Avs Legend Lands New Gig; Same Old Leafs; Edmonton is Moving On

One of the greatest Avs of all time has landed a head coaching job. In Toronto, the Maple Leafs were booed out of the building and sent to the brink of elimination by the Florida Panthers. Also, Edmonton needed overtime to get it done, but they’re moving on to the Western Conference Final.

Colorado Hockey Now
I know the season just ended, but I wonder how long it’ll take until we see the Avalanche start to make moves. Last year, the Ottawa Senators traded for Linus Ullmark during the Stanley Cup Final. Stanley Cup Playoff Recap
Game 5 — Florida Panthers at Toronto Maple Leafs: What an epic, embarrassment of a Game 5 for Toronto. Coming off two straight road losses, the Leafs had an opportunity to flex their home-ice advantage to regain a hold of their second-round series against the reigning Stanley Cup champs. Instead, they did what this core has done so many times and folded under pressure. It was uninspiring, lifeless hockey. Toronto was smashed 6-1 by the Panthers, who are now one win away from their third straight Eastern Conference Final appearance. And they’ll get a chance to end the series on home ice.
Game 5 — Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights: Remember when the Oilers were worried about goaltending? Stuart Skinner put up his second straight shutout on Wednesday, sending the Vegas Golden Knights home with a 24-save performance. The Oilers got the game winner in OT from Kasperi Kapanen to advance to the Western Conference Final for the third time in four years.
