General manager Chris MacFarland paid a hefty price to acquire Brock Nelson at the trade deadline. He was a solid contributor in the regular season but failed to score a goal in the playoffs.

Stanley Cup Playoff Recap
Game 5 — Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals: The Caps were stymied by the Canes all series, and that continued in the game that ended their season. Washington tied it up at 1-1 late in the first, but that was all they could muster offensively. They gave up the game winner with less than two minutes remaining and lost 3-1. Carolina allowed just seven goals in five games as it advances to the Eastern Conference Final for the second time in three years.
Game 5 — Dallas Stars at Winnipeg Jets: The Jets forced Game 6 after shutting out the Dallas Stars for the second time in this series. Winnipeg needs to win a game on the road to keep its season alive and force Game 7. Otherwise, it’ll be a rematch of last year’s Western Conference Final.
