Nathan MacKinnon and Team Canada are tied for the best record heading into the knockout playoff round at the IIHF World Championships.

Like the Swiss on the other side of the bracket, Canada has six wins and one overtime loss through seven preliminary games. They scored 34 goals and allowed just seven.

MacKinnon is second in the tournament with 13 points, trailing one behind Czechia’s David Pastrnak. The Avs’ superstar center is also tied for the lead in goals with seven, matching Elias Lindholm (SWE) and former teammate Sven Andrighetto (SUI).

Playoffs begin on Thursday, starting with the quarter-finals. It’s a one-game knockout among the final eight teams, setting up the semi-finals on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday.

MacKinnon and Team Canada will take on Denmark. Martin Necas (3 goals, 3 assists in 6 GP) and Czechia will play Sweden.
