Burns Makes Avalanche Preseason Debut, MacKinnon Also Playing

Brent Burns is set to make his preseason debut for the Avalanche on Saturday as the team hosts the Dallas Stars at 5 p.m. MT at Ball Arena.

Burns was one of a handful of players to not dress in the season-opening doubleheader vs the Utah Mammoth last weekend. Nathan MacKinnon also did not dress in any of those games and will play his first game of the preseason, too.

Joel Kiviranta and Ross Colton round out the others who are playing their first game.

Burns signed a one-year bonus-laden contract with the Avalanche on July 2. The 40-year-old longtime veteran of the league is still chasing a Stanley Cup to add to his career.

Scott Wedgewood and Trent Miner will both be in the lineup against the Stars.

Dallas is sending a mostly AHL lineup with NHL veterans like Lian Bichsel, Adan Erne, and Colin Blackwell leading the charge. Mikko Rantanen is not playing in this game, and neither of the Stars’ top two goalies will dress.
