Avalanche’s Gavin Brindley Out Week-To-Week

The Avalanche have updated the status of injured forward Gavin Brindley.

The team announced Friday that Brindley is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, which he suffered against the New York Rangers on Thursday.

Brindley, 21, was playing on the second line before his most recent ailment. He was lining up with center Brock Nelson and winger Ross Colton following an injury to Valeri Nichuskin.

The rookie, who also missed two games previously with a concussion, has seven points in 18 games.

Brindley was acquired in an offseason deal with the Blue Jackets that sent Charlie Coyle and Miles Wood to Columbus. After an impressive training camp, he earned an opening night roster spot on the fourth line. Brindley’s strong start led to a two-year contract extension and an eventual promotion to the top six.

The Avs told reporters in Nashville that Brindley will be re-evaluated in a few weeks. Colorado called up Jason Polin to fill out the lineup against the Predators.
