Deen’s Daily: Avs Dominance Continues; Leafs Wake Up; Red Wings Down and Out

Published

on

The Avs dominated the Habs. The Leafs did the same to Pittsburgh. Detroit can’t figure things out yet, and now they’re losing fights. Also, a quick chat with Nathan MacKinnon and other comments from Colorado’s dressing room.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — November 30.

Colorado Hockey Now

I wrote last night about how teams often go into a bit of a lull after seeing lengthy winning streaks get snapped. Colorado lost in a shootout on Friday to Minnesota, and on less than 24 hours rest, it bounced back with a dominant performance.

So much for that lull. The Avs made the Habs pay, in what was their latest incredible showing at Ball Arena.

I chatted with Nathan MacKinnon post-game about the team’s recent dominance. He also touched on the goaltending and other things.

That, plus comments from Jared Bednar on how he’s coaching a focused team that is fully bought in.

Around The NHL

Montreal Hockey Now: The Avs offered the Habs a lesson in dominance. I’m sure this is rather similar to how the Sharks felt after coming to town earlier in the week.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Montreal wasn’t the only team to lose 7-2. The Pens fell by the same score to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The loss exposed issues the team has all over the ice.

Detroit Hockey Now: The Red Wings have been in a rut as of late and their latest performance in Boston was better, but still not good enough.

Boston Hockey Now: Along with defeating the Red Wings in the shootout, the Bruins also had tough guy Mark Kastelic KO Mo Seider in a fight. It’s worth a watch.

Vegas Hockey Now: Bruce Cassidy and the Vegas Golden Knights have not had a great year. They’re still in the thick of things because of the OTL points. But, Cassidy scratched two regulars in his forward group and explained why. The team responded with a victory over San Jose.
