The Avalanche won at home again, to nobody’s surprise. Also, two trade trickled in before the holiday roster freeze, the Penguins’ sale became official, and some injury news around the league.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — December 20.

Colorado Hockey Now

In one of the more physical games of the season, the Avalanche came out on the winning side again at home.

That’s yet another type of game this team can win with ease. They are now 14-0-2 at Ball Arena.

Around The NHL

Montreal Hockey Now: Philip Danault is heading back to Montreal after a nearly five-year stint with the Kings. Danault played for the Habs in 2021 when they made the Stanley Cup Final and assisted on the Artturi Lehkonen goal that sent them past the Vegas Golden Knights.

Also, just before the holiday roster freeze went into effect, the Columbus Blue Jackets acquired Mason Marchment from Seattle.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The sale is official. The Pens are no longer property of Fenway Sports Group.

Philly Hockey Now: With the holiday roster freeze now in effect, the Flyers made one final call up beforehand.

Florida Hockey Now: Good news? No news? Paul Maurice says Matthew Tkachuk is “on track” to return, but still doesn’t know when that will be.

Detroit Hockey Now: The Red Wings are back in action tonight, but they’ll have to play another game, at least, without Patrick Kane.
