Key Stories to Watch

  • The Avalanche are riding an eight-game winning streak and have won 14 straight games at home. They’ll put both of those streaks on the line in the first of three meetings against their division rival, the St. Louis Blues.
  • Mackenzie Blackwood makes his second consecutive start, following two in a row for Scott Wedgewood. Blackwood is 12-1-1 on the season since making his debut on Nov. 1. He’s also been a .920 save percentage or better in his last six starts, all of which are wins. He’ll go up against Jordan Binnington.
  • The Blues are the fourth-worst team in the NHL both in total points and points percentage. They’ve given up a league-worst 137 goals and have a -37 goal differential, which is last place in the league.
  • Earlier on Tuesday, Colorado’s Devon Toews and St. Louis’ Jordan Binnington and Colton Parayko were named to Team Canada’s Olympic roster, joining Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar. All five of them played for Canada during last February’s 4 Nations Face-Off.
