Avalanche’s Gabriel Landeskog Hurt, Leaves Game After Crashing Into Net

Gabriel Landeskog left Sunday’s game in the second period against the Florida Panthers with an upper-body injury.

The Avalanche’s captain lost his balance after toe-picking while battling for a loose puck. He then slid into the Panthers’ net, striking the goal post with his midsection. His left skate was the one that caught a rut in the ice.

Landeskog remained down for several minutes before getting helped off the ice. He was unable to skate off on his own, needing both the Avs’ trainer and Nathan MacKinnon to assist him.

Head coach Jared Bednar said after the game that Landeskog is going to miss some time.

After missing three years with a knee injury, Landeskog has played in every game since returning in Game 3 of last year’s first-round playoff series. He has seven goals and 22 points in 41 regular-season games this year and was elevated to the top line for the past several weeks.
