Key Stories to Watch

  • The Avalanche are coming off two consecutive regulation losses, both of which ended without Devon Toews or Gabe Landeskog available. Mackenzie Blackwood also remains out, meaning Scott Wedgewood will get the nod for the fourth straight game. He’ll likely go against Ottawa’s Mads Sogaard.
  • Colorado commences a seven-game homestand tonight. Jared Bednar’s club is a dominant 17-0-2 at Ball Arena, which includes 15 straight wins. Both losses, against Dallas and Carolina, came in the shootout.
  • This is the first of two meetings between the two clubs. The second, in Ottawa, is less than three weeks away.
  • The Senators are 5-4-1 in their last 10, which includes two consecutive losses. Ottawa was in Utah on Wednesday and will play a back-to-back. With Linus Ullmark on a personal leave, the Sens have had trouble juggling their other goalies to find consistency. Ullmark was also not having a great season.
