Deen’s Daily: Malinski Is Staying; Another Trade!; Is Lafreniere Getting Moved?
The Avalanche are keeping Sam Malinski past this season. The New York Islanders completed another trade with a different division rival. Also, the Red Wings’ home winning streak ended, and the Rangers have plenty of things to mull over as they sell off pieces.
All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — January 28.
Colorado Hockey Now

Around The NHL
New Jersey Hockey Now: After acquiring Carson Soucy from the New York Rangers, the Islanders went to New Jersey for their next target, and brought in a veteran forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion.
Forever Blueshirts: The Rangers have nearly everything on the table as they begin to retool the roster. Could Alex Lafreniere be on the move?
Detroit Hockey Now: It wasn’t a good day in the standings for the Detroit Red Wings. They fell in regulation to the L.A. Kings, and watched the Buffalo Sabres beat up on the Toronto Maple Leafs to draw closer to catching them for No. 2 in the Atlantic Division.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Bryan Rust suspension is official. And his head coach doesn’t agree.
Boston Hockey Now: Boston’s Hampus Lindholm and Minnesota’s Marcus Johansson are going to the Olympics. They’ll replace two injured skaters.

As a Buffalo native I’m really happy for the fans there that the Sabres seem for real. I just hope they make the postseason & don’t melt down again after the Olympic break.
