Takeaways from Avalanche victory over Blues: Doooooob

Devan Dubnyk, career victory No. 251. That’s my big takeaway from tonight’s Avalanche 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues in Missouri.

I don’t care if Dooob allowed two third-period goals, I thought he was one of the three stars of the game in getting the Avs their latest win. He was always possible to start the game, but there was even more of a spotlight on him after the unfortunate Covid-19 positive test to Philipp Grubauer. Doooooob made 31 saves in the victory.

I know most reading this story have always disliked Doob, but I’ve personally always liked him. I think not only is he a good goalie, but a strong personality. This is where covering the NHL for 26 years now pays off for me, as I’ve had some good conversations with Doob since he came into the league, going all the way back to his days in Edmonton.
