GAME 6 COLORADO AVALANCHE REPORT CARD

We are the champions, my friend – Queen and the Colorado Avalanche

Jack Johnson : A+ – From a PTO contract to Stanley Cup Champion. Can’t beat it.

Bowen Byram : A+ – Absolutely loved his game in the playoffs. He’s been aggressive, getting the shot off and making clean passes.

Erik Johnson : A+ He a made a few smart defensive plays in his own zone, including a few key clears. He finally gets to lift the Cup after 14 years, and he’s the longest-tenured Av.

Devon Toews : A+ – He’s played a lot of hockey and hasn’t missed a beat, including time on the power play and penalty kill. What a warrior, what a year. 

Cale Makar : A+ – He seems to be playing through some sort of injury. Most players are at this point but he powered through it. Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup Champion. And how was your month?

Andrew Cogliano : A+ – Man, he is tough as nails. We’ve talked about it before but holy cow, the trade deadline pick ups have been difference makers. Six points in the playoffs.

Valeri Nichushkin : A+ – He was in a lot of pain after Game 5 and he was seen limping before Game 6. Another one of those guys who is pouring his heart and sole into it tonight.

Alex Newhook : A+ – Couple of blocked shots and took a few shots. All in all, a fine rookie season.

Logan O’Connor : A+ – It takes all four lines to win a Stanley Cup.

Nathan MacKinnon : A+ – Big games are for big players. MacKinnon was all over the ice tonight.

J.T. Compher : A+ – Almost had a breakaway in the second but it was called offside. This was a much better game for him

Josh Manson : A+ – Yikes, he’s going to be feeling that tomorrow after Maroon broke his stick over him. Eight points in the playoffs. Stanley Cup Champ.

Darren Helm : A+ – He took a nasty boarding hit from McDonagh. Glad he was able to get up. Great night in the faceoff dot.

Artturi Lehkonen : A+ – He had a point-blank chance in the first and he hit the post but got one past Vasilevskiy in the second which gave the Avalanche a 2-1 lead. Eight goals in the playoffs.

Nico Sturm : A+ – Really liked his hustle tonight. He skated hard and was giving it his all.

Nazem Kadri : A+ – What a season. What a playoff run. Now it’s time to celebrate with family and friends.

Gabe Landeskog : A+ – Just like MacKinnon, big games are for the big players. Landeskog was grinding out there and doing everything he could for the Colorado Avalanche. How about that lost skate blade at the end, with MacK pulling him off the ice and the captain on his knees crawling to get off? Of course, the Lightning complained about that. Sore losers.

Mikko Rantanen : A+ – I’m running out of things to say. Incredible season for everyone.

Darcy Kuemper : A+ – Even with all the controversy, he came out on top. Cheers to Kuemper and battling through.
