Dater’s Daily: Avalanche Betting Underdogs in Vegas; Canadiens Looking To Trade

Avalanche

A very good Saturday to all. A gorgeous fall day here in T-Town. As I type, I see blue skies and trees with red and yellow leaves. ‘Tis a privilege to live in Colorado. I won’t be in Vegas for tonight’s game, but I will be in New York and New Jersey all next week, covering the three Avalanche games there. For a six-day trip, let’s do a contest: What will Dater lose/forget during the trip? Will it be some nice headphones, like I’ve twice lost on the road the last couple years? Will it be a phone-charging cord? Will it be a shirt, a jacket, a pair of pants? Will it be a wallet, or a credit card from the wallet? Will it be my mind? All of these things I have lost on the road in recent years. The person who guesses right, I’ll send a free, signed copy of “Blood Feud” to. Because, I will forget or lose something on the trip. That’s a lock. And speaking of locks, the wise guys in Vegas seem to thin, the Golden Knights are something of one tonight against the Colorado Avalanche at T-Mobile Arena.

  • The Avalanche is an underdog for a game tonight, for the first time in a long time. (SuperBook Colorado)
  • Alexandar Georgiev is expected to start in goal for the Avalanche tonight, who have only one point in the last two games.
  • I think the Avalanche will have a good night. I picked them to win as part of my daily three best bets for a betting site I have written for the last four years (Bookies.com)
  • Anton Blidh and Charles Hudon each scored two goals in last night’s Colorado Eagles win over Calgary. More details here: (Colorado Eagles)
  • The DU Pioneers beat Providence 4-1 last night (Denverpioneers.com)
  • The Montreal Canadiens are looking for a right-shot defenseman (Montreal Hockey Now)
  • The Habs cut Justin Barron in training camp, sending him to their AHL team. He’s a right-shot D.

  • Maybe you’ll want to use some of that savings on a contribution to the Avs Travel Tip Jar for the New York/NJ trip? 95 cents of every dollar contributed goes to Avalanche travel, and 5 cents goes to the Thornton Food Bank (Avs Travel Tip Jar)
  • I found a pretty reasonable flight on JetBlue to New York, but lodgings? Not cheap lol. Maybe a Central Park bench will be in my offing.
  • As always, all active and former military, all first responders and all hospital personnel get free, lifetime subscriptions. No questions asked.
  • Evgeny Kuznetsov bared his soul over a recent suspension (Washington Hockey Now)
  • A tip of the hat here to Kroenke Sports Charities. In their most recent equipment fund drive, in the memory of Jessica Ghawi and in conjunction with A Precious Child, another big haul was made on behalf of Colorado kids. Since the program started 11 years ago, more than 223,000 pieces of sports equipment have been donated to kids. Well done (Coloradoavalanche.com)
  • Iconic Swede Borje Salming, battling ALS, is in the thoughts of everyone, especially Erik Karlsson (San Jose Hockey Now)
