Avalanche Locker Room: Georgiev Wanted to ‘Talk’ to Binnington
Alexandar Georgiev has become a fan favorite pretty quickly for the Colorado Avalanche.
He might be even more popular now after Saturday’s game.
The second period near run in with St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was a popular topic as he spoke at his locker after the 4-2 victory.
Watch his post game interview, and read what Head Coach Jared Bednar had to say after the big win for the Avalanche.
Alexandar Georgiev
Bednar on the game in general:
I liked the game. I thought it was a good hockey game. We were in complete control of it until they got some life off power plays at the end of the second period. In the third period, I would say we checked hard, played hard, but coming out of our zone, probably some soft plays, some light plays under pressure. It didn’t look like we wanted to skate with the puck a lot.
Bednar on if he was surprised the Blues got a powerplay in the second period after the scrum:
Shocked. No, I didn’t (get an explanation).
Bednar on Georgiev:
I thought he was great tonight. He made all the saves he needed to make and one big one at the end on the big glove save.
Bednar on Newhook’s game heading into the break:
I think he’s been outstanding for us recently, and I think you see it again late in the game. He was heavy down low, getting into people. Physical, coming up with pucks, and still finds a way to get up the ice on the forecheck. I think he’s playing a real nice 200 foot game right now for us in the middle of the ice, which is nice to see.
