It didn’t take very long for things to slow down again around the NHL, but that’s not a huge surprise. Teams used up a lot of their money on July 1, and now players are hit with the reality that they might not get paid what they expected.

The Toronto Maple Leafs keep signing people, but they’re well over the cap at this point. How are they going to get under it? Is A Nylander trade still an option? It might be, given his apparent asks in a contract.

While now contract numbers have leaked out, it sounds like Vladimir Tarasenko, the best free agent left on the market, will be signing with the Carolina Hurricanes.
