Jeff Petry had a contract that allowed him to turn down half the teams in the NHL, and on Thursday, he ended up in a city he’s very familiar with. As for that team, I’m not quite sure what they’re building…

With the Colorado Avalanche, we took a look at some former players who are still kicking around overseas.

All that and more in this Wednesday edition of Evan’s Daily.

A lot of players come and go in the NHL, but when they leave the league, that doesn’t mean they stop playing. We took a look at some former members of the Avalanche that are still playing overseas.

Where Are They Now? Checking In On Former Avalanche Players

Today, I’ll start watching some game film of Ross Colton. While Miles Wood caught me off guard, I already have a feeling I’m going to like what I see with Colton.

Around The NHL

It was no secret he was going to get traded again, and on Tuesday, the Detroit Red Wings acquired Jeff Petry from Montreal. It cost them very little to get him, but I’m still a little confused as to what they’re building in Detroit.

Petry isn’t a bad player by any means, but he’s another in a long line of “okay” players that they’ve added. This team is not a contender, but they’re probably not bad enough to get a really high draft pick. They’re just average, but is that what Steve Yzerman wants? A team that’s just good enough to sneak in for now? I’m not even sure they’re good enough for that, but I guess we’ll see.

Here’s analysis on the trade from the Canadiens perspective.
