Avalanche Wrap-Up: Miles Wood Breakdown, Cover Star Makar

Avalanche Miles Wood

Another week in August down, and another week where the Colorado Avalanche stay pretty quiet. But look on the bright side – we’re now less than a month away from on-ice action returning.

On the site, we took a deep dive into Miles Wood’s game, and a star on the team will be the face of the NHL gaming franchise.

Here’s a look back at what you might have missed the previous week at CHN, and a peak at what’s coming.

Sunday

Not everyone succeeds in the NHL, but you can still have a successful hockey career. That’s been the case for two former Avalanche fowards over in the KHL.

Mikko Rantanen is definitely a top five winger in the league, but does NHL Network even have him a little low?

Monday

I wasn’t sure if I’d like Miles Wood‘s game or not, but I have to admit – I came away pretty happy with his game after digging in more, and definitely see why the Avalanche targeted him.

Cale Makar is your cover athlete for NHL 24.

Tuesday

Taking a look at former Avalanche forwards and where they’re at today.

Wednesday

The Avalanche let Matt Stienburg hit free agency, but as we found out later in the week, it wouldn’t be for long.

Thursday

I have to admit, they announced the dates much earlier than I expected, but we now have the official dates for when training camp will start.

Ivan Zhigalov was very excited to play back home in Belarus, but it didn’t last long, as his contract was terminated this week.

Friday

He actually got paid a little more because he hit free agency, but in the end, the Avalanche were able to lock down Matthew Stienburg.

Remember Ryan Merkley? Just like Martin Kaut, who he was traded for, he’ll be headed overseas next year.
