It’s September, and we’re less than two weeks away from Colorado Avalanche hockey returning. Soon, rookies will hit the ice, and excitement and optimism will follow.

Over the past week, I talked to a scout for their opinion on the pickups the Avalanche made from the East, and Igor Larionov talked about how he’s prepping Nikolai Kovalenko for the NHL. In addition, Colorado snuck another PTO into the mix for camp.

Here’s a look back at what you might have missed the previous week at CHN, and a peak at what’s coming.

Sunday

I spoke to a scout located in the Eastern Conference about the pickups the Avalanche made, including Jonathan Drouin, Miles Wood, and Ross Colton. (+)

Unfortunately, concussions forced former Colorado forward Joonas Donskoi to retire.

Monday

Is Alexandar Georgiev a top 10 goalie in the NHL?

Remember Joel Kiviranta? It’s okay if you don’t want to, but he’ll be at training camp for Colorado on a PTO.

Tuesday

A new mailbag, including questions like….do PTO’s matter? Did Avalanche overpay Ross Colton? And my under-hyped and over-hyped moves of the summer.

Jonathan Drouin got to town later in the week, but on Tuesday, he hosted his charity golf tournament and talked about his move to Colorado.

Wednesday

ESPN had some interesting projections for not just Colorado players, but everyone around the league.

I know some people don’t like watching National games, but it might be the only way for some to see the team, and the Avalanche will be on National TV a lot.
