Avalanche vs. Wild, Preseason Game 3: Lines, Starting Goalies & How to Watch

If a preseason game occurs, but no one can see it, did it actually happen? We’ll find out tonight, when the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild face-off in Minnesota.
Prior to their game with the Wild, the Avalanche announced a few roster moves. Jeremy Hanzel and Saige Weinstein have been re-assigned to their respective WHL clubs, while Cal Burke has been placed on waivers with the intention of joining the Colorado Eagles.
Bednar had a lot of praise for the two young defenders.
“Both guys play with a lot of poise,” Bednar said of Hanzel and Weinstein. “For where we picked (Hanzel) in the draft and for him to come into rookie camp, had a good showing. Didn’t look out of place here. Still some room to go in his development, his assertiveness. He’s going to go back to junior and play a big role on his team.”
As for the game at hand, the Avalanche are dressing a much weaker squad than the Wild, which is typical for the road squad. The battle to watch (or listen to, I guess) will be for the 4th line center role, as both Ben Meyers and Fredrik Olofsson will be playing. I have to imagine it’s between the two of them for that job, as of right now.
This will also be a good test for Justus Annunen. With the Wild dressing a solid lineup, he’ll be tested, and tested a lot. With goalies around the NHL soon to hit waivers, he’ll need t strong showing to let the organization know he can handle the backup role.
