Avalanche vs. Stars, Preseason Game 5: Lines, Starting Goalies & How to Watch

Avalanche Stars

Tuesday night will be yet another mystery game for fans, as the matchup between the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars will not be televised. At least the Avalanche will send a radio crew, because the Stars (somehow) will not even cover a home game via radio.

Colorado held a morning skate at Family Sports this morning before flying out to Dallas. The big news? Ondrej Pavel, who was at Colorado Eagles camp yesterday, will be playing for the Avalanche tonight. That’s huge for Pavel, who spent all summer in Denver. He’ll get one last chance to make an impression on the coaching staff, even though it’s likely he starts the season in the AHL. This is likely the last opportunity the other young players will have to make an impression on the staff, as the final preseason game is typically reserved for the final roster.

Beyond Pavel, the Avalanche will be icing a pretty strong lineup, with a good bit of veterans making the trip. Miles Wood was scheduled to play and will travel, but he was getting maintenance this morning. If he can’t go, Kiviranta will take his place. Valeri Nichushkin and Josh Manson appear set to make their preseason debuts for the Avalanche.

Justus Annunen will get one last chance in the preseason to show he can take on the backup role. Dallas is icing a strong team, and he will get tested.
