Avalanche Turning Point: Late Breakdown Costs Team Points (+)

Avalanche Devils

In the Turning Point, we’ll take a look at one moment in the previous Colorado Avalanche game that changed the momentum of the game.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Well, it’s good to be back. We could have gone with the goalie interference call, but I’m not going there.

The Avalanche had their chance to take the lead late against the Devils. After coming back from a two goal deficit, the Avalanche carried all the momentum, dominating New Jersey by outshooting them 17-3 in the third. The pucks that go in the net are all that matter, though.

At one end, Nathan MacKinnon had the game on his stick with a chance to give his team the lead. A few seconds later at the other end, John Marino buried the winner right in front of him on a goal that went right through Justus Annunen. It’s a game of inches, and that’s what made the difference on Tuesday.
