Avalanche Room: Mittelstadt, Walker Meet With Media

The new additions for the Colorado Avalanche are already in town. Well, two of them are at least.

Casey Mittelstadt didn’t take the ice with his new teammates as he just arrived early Thursday morning, but Sean Walker did. Both of them met with the media for the first time since being acquired from Buffalo and Philadelphia respectively. It was an optional practice, but a good way to meet teammates.

It was clear Mittelstadt just got into town. After he was done talking to the media, both Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin came over to introduce themselves to him.

Both are expected to play tomorrow, or at least that’s what they think. I’m sure the Avalanche agree, as they don’t have enough bodies otherwise.

Take a look at Mittelstadt’s first press conference with the organization, and read some of what Sean Walker had to say.

Casey Mittelstadt

Mittelstadt on the last 24 hours:

“Obviously, I’ve heard my name in some rumors. I don’t think it was too crazy. Lay down and take a nap, get ready for the game, get a call from Kevyn Adams, and the rest is history.”

Mittelstadt on his development the last two seasons:

“Maybe some experience and growing up a little bit. Learning new things and how to implement them into the game, and for me, I think a lot of it was experience.”

Sean Walker on the Avalanche in general:

“Obviously, top team in the league, so very excited to be joining and hopefully can help contribute some wins.”

Sean Walker on if his game fits with how the Avalanche like to play:

“Yeah, I think so. Fast, transition team. Lots of guys that want to go, and I think I fit really well into that mold.”

Walker on playing against Colorado as an opponent:

“It’s always been quite a challenge. Tough building to play in. Again, really great team, so happy to be on the other side of it now.”
