Key Stories to Watch
- The Avalanche are 3-1-2 through the first six games of the homestand. They are also 3-3-2 in their last eight games, dating back to when Devon Toews and Gabe Landeskog both got injured.
- Against the Ducks, the Avs scored fewer than two goals for just the fourth time this season. They are 2-1-1 in those contests. It was also just the third time with fewer than three goals at Ball Arena.
- Toews and Landeskog are still out, but Colorado is getting Joel Kiviranta back. He’ll replace Ross Colton in the lineup. Colton is day-to-day with a lower-body injury sustained at the end of the Anaheim game on Wednesday.
- Mackenzie Blackwood gets the nod for Colorado after backing up Scott Wedgewood in the previous two games.
- The Flyers are 3-5-2 in their last 10, and are coming off a disappointing OT loss in Utah. They gave up the game-tying goal late after this blunder from Garnet Hathaway.
This is crazy. Garnet Hathaway had his pocket picked on a routine empty netter, then Clayton Keller scores a minute later to tie the game then wins it in OT for Utah. Point lost for the Flyers 🥴 #LetsGoFlyers #TusksUp pic.twitter.com/BVCSdyEHEw
