Cale Makar Remains Out For Second Straight Game

Cale Makar was a (sort of) surprise scratch on Tuesday night after missing a few practices due to “maintenance.”

That absence is now extending into another game, as he will miss Thursday night’s contest against the San Jose Sharks. News on that broke earlier today.

After morning skate, Jared Bednar confirmed that this is a new injury to his lower-body and not maintenance from his previous injuries, according to Kyle Fredrickson, who met with him after morning skate.

Bednar did not have a timeline for his return, but I’ve seen some people call it an “indefinite” absence. I’m not so sure I would go that far, as the Avalanche don’t really give timelines a lot of the time. For all we know, he could be back on Saturday night and they’re just playing it safe with him.

Makar is having another dynamite season, but has dealt with a lot of injuries here and there. The Avalanche need him healthy for the postseason, so there’s no need to rush it if he’s got something bothering him.

Stay tuned to CHN for any updates on Makar and the team as they continue their road trip in California.
