More good news on Conor Timmins: He’s full-speed ahead for Rookie Camp

Connor Timmins

For me, there was one name I had about 28 eyes for today, when the Avalanche put out their Rookie Camp roster: Conor Timmins.

And there it was on the official Avs’ release for the camp, which really isn’t a camp more than it is a one-day practice in Denver, followed by a round-robin tournament in Anaheim in two weeks (I’ll be there). Timmins will be on the ice Sept. 6 for the one-day practice, then he and the rest of the rookies/prospects will board a plane for Anaheim for a four-day Rookie Showcase in Orange County.

I have not heard of any setbacks for Timmins over the summer, from his concussion problems. He played in the 3-on-3 game in Fort Collins in June, which I’m proud to have represented as the only Denver Avs media there that night and thus exclusively reported on Timmins’ fine showing in the game.

Timmins will be one huge story of rookie camp/regular camp, and how well Bo Byram looks will be another. Can the 18-year-old make the team out of camp (and maybe the bigger question: can he stay more than nine games?). Martin Kaut’s play will probably be the other, though I have him penciled in for Loveland pretty much no matter how he looks.

Here is the full roster:
