Good news on Mikko Rantanen

Well, everybody can exhale now.
While the official prognosis for injured all-star Avalanche right wing Mikko Rantanen is “week to week”, I followed up a bit more with coach Jared Bednar on that and here’s what he said: “Like, I can say, I don’t think it’s going to be a 4-6 week injury, I’ll give you that. We’re hoping it’s going to be significantly sooner than that.”
Phew, right?
This would seem to rule out any possibility of a torn ACL or drastically torn knee cartilage elsewhere. Bednar did say that the team wants to see how Mikko’s left leg responds in the next few days, and by then a more precise timetable could be offered.
More later, but that is the quick good news from Family Sports Center.
whew!
How is that even possible? His leg was BACKWARDS! Is he some kind of freak of nature?
Thanks for the quick news, AD!
That’s awesome! That definitely means nothing is torn, sprained, or broken. Great news for sure.
I was thinking it meant nothing torn or broken but something strained or sprained but whatever it is, it’s really great news.
I’m thinking if it were a high-ankle sprain or a sprained MCL or ACL, it would be a month-to-month deal.
1 bullet dodged – thanks for the update AD
I think that was a bit over hyped, everyone was talking about how hard it was to watch. We’ve all seen much worse footage than that. Like Rycroft said, your bones are rubber at that age. It’s not like another skater ran into him and dropped his weight on it or anything. Great news though.
