Postgame Avalanche-Blackhawks: Another meltdown

Throughout what has otherwise been a fine season, there has still been one nagging question about the Avalanche: Why does it still seem like they lack a killer instinct, a tendency to let up after having some success – whether it be after a small winning streak or during a game?

That question is not going away. Not after the Avs blew a second straight home game with a bizarre late-game meltdown. The Avs’ 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks was a shocker, one that I definitely didn’t see coming. I mean, the Avs I thought were in total control of this thing, up 3-1 with less than eight minutes left. Well, maybe not total control, but in control.
