The hockey world was stunned the other night by the Jay Bouwmeester cardiac incident in Anaheim that sent him to the hospital and postponed the Blues’ game with the Ducks. Also in the daily links, NHL trade rumors, reports and Bruins-Habs hate.

Was the Taylor Hall trade by Arizona a mistake? Should the Coyotes consider flipping him at the deadline? (Hockey News). My views on this: Definitely don’t try and flip him at the deadline. Tough it out and see what happens. Otherwise, it’s too much chaos.

Avs prospect Alex Newhook named Co-Rookie of the Week in Hockey East, for Boston College (Mile High Sticking). The kid is going to be a player for the Avs, I have no doubt. He won’t play with the Avs next year, though. The plan is to give him one more year in college, then bring him up to the big club and/or give him some seasoning in the minors.

Dater! Comcast is showing a car show on NBCSN. They stopped showing hockey once the FL game ended!!! WTF!!!

Definitely like the idea of giving Newhook a second college season. While the college game schedule is really light, it does give them a chance to spend a lot of time in the gym and actually build muscle mass that you don’t really get with a heavier schedule like in major junior or AHL. I know they’re two different players, but look how physically capable Makar was to step into the lineup as opposed to Jost when he first signed after his freshman year.
