Good news on Mikko Rantanen: The MRI came back looking good tonight. He’s still going to miss a “few” weeks, but that’s it. He’ll be back by the playoffs, quite probably before the end of the regular season. No broken collarbone, no surgery on anything.

There was real concern this might have been a season-ending injury at first, but it won’t be the case.

Does this change the Avs’ outlook on the trade deadline? It might. I can’t answer that for sure at this moment. All I know is, Mikko will be back in time for when it really matters – the playoffs.
