Scott Takes: Avs need more than ‘half the team’

Published

What the Avalanche displayed in their first-round series against the Arizona Coyotes was nothing short of complete and dominant. But the effort the Avs put out in Game 1 of their second-round series against Dallas was anything but the product they iced against Arizona.

From the jump, Colorado couldn’t stick with the Stars’ speed. And by speed, I mean lack of it.

Dallas has an acute ability to slow down the game and use that to their advantage. They play a ground-and-pound style, which relies heavily on its defense, strong forechecking, heavy physical play and not allowing the opponent any room through the neutral zone. And it worked masterfully against the Avalanche on Saturday night.

Gabe Landeskog, however, felt it was more of a us problem rather than them. Instead, the captain put the blame on himself and his teammates for their lack of effort.
