It’s been a long journey for Michael Hutchinson
There were times throughout his 10-year career when Michael Hutchinson thought about giving up on his dream of being an NHL goaltender. “Numerous times in my career,” he admitted.
“It’s been a long journey,” a reflective Hutchinson continued. “I’ve been sent down and called up numerous times. There’s always some moments when you get sent down and you think you’ll never play another NHL game. Those moments, you put them behind you and just enjoy playing hockey and have fun with it. For myself, it’s just working hard and try to be a good teammate.
“It’s interesting the way hockey works out and how things change sometimes.”
From Providence, Rhode Island and St. John’s, Newfoundland to Miami, Toronto and now the Edmonton bubble, where the journeyman netminder now finds himself a member of the Colorado Avalanche and the main character of the NHL’s best story of the postseason.
