While some arenas are expected to have some fans in the stands for the upcoming NHL season (Dallas, maybe Florida and Tampa Bay), there won’t be any Avs fans in the stands of Ball Arena when the puck drops on the NHL regular season next month.

The Avalanche put out that unfortunate news earlier today:

I was hoping there would be a chance for at least some fans in the building, especially with the vaccines here, but no. At least, not at the start of the season.

We’ll see if they let media in the building to cover the games. Hey, I did it for 50 days in Edmonton, so I’ll be used to the atmosphere here too, at least. We’re all still waiting for the official schedule of the season (should be this week, I’m told) and the safety protocols for everything. I think the players are going to be pretty restricted in where they can go and the things they can do while we’re all in this state of semi- shutdown.

But let’s wait for word from the proper authorities, Avs fans.

Obviously, teams won’t have the same “home-ice advantage” with no fans in the stands, but I think the Avs will still feel good about playing in their own barn and that it’ll help them more than playing in some neutral site.
