AVS TRADE: Patrik Nemeth reacquired from Detroit

Remember Patrik Nemeth? He’s back, as a member of the Avs.

Nemeth, who played with the Avs from 2017-19, was acquired from the Detroit Red Wings just now for a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft.

Nemeth, 29, has played 39 games for the Red Wings this season, with a -1 rating and eight points. He’s a left-shot D-man, who can play a rugged game. He was a plus-32 in 142 games for the Avs in his time here.

Does this mean the Avs are out in the David Savard sweepstakes? It would seem that way, but nothing is done ’til it’s done. Nemeth could  be a replacement for Bo Byram moving forward, as not only has Byram been out lately with a concussion, but now he’s in the Covid protocol.

We’ll have more on this as it develops, but for now let’s welcome back Broadway.
