AVS TRADE: Patrik Nemeth reacquired from Detroit

Remember Patrik Nemeth? He’s back, as a member of the Avs.

Nemeth, who played with the Avs from 2017-19, was acquired from the Detroit Red Wings just now for a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft.

Nemeth, 29, has played 39 games for the Red Wings this season, with a -1 rating and eight points. He’s a left-shot D-man, who can play a rugged game. He was a plus-32 in 142 games for the Avs in his time here.

Crystal Ball Bonus!

Does this mean the Avs are out in the David Savard sweepstakes? It would seem that way, but nothing is done ’til it’s done. Nemeth could  be a replacement for Bo Byram moving forward, as not only has Byram been out lately with a concussion, but now he’s in the Covid protocol.

We’ll have more on this as it develops, but for now let’s welcome back Broadway.

I like it. Bringing in someone that’s familiar, that you know what you’re getting is a good move.

John Mauss

What is his contract situation and cap hit?

Paul Nagy

Yeah, but can he tend goal?

I like the trade Nemeth not only does he brings organizational familiarity – he also brings physicality which is much needed during the playoffs run.

welcome back Patrik – too bad you can’t play in net…

Matt Briggle

Per CapFriendly, we get Nemo for a 4th rd. pick and they retain 50% of the salary making it a $1.5 mil cap hit.

Seems like a good move. He will be able to reduce the wear on 7, 8, 27 & 49 which will be good down the stretch. Should be a an upgrade over the 4 taxi squad boys.

[…] will David Savard go? Where will Taylor Hall go? Will the Avs still try to get a backup goalie? Those questions, and many more, will be bandied about the NHL hot […]

“Broadway” nice! 😂😆🤣

Like an Ian Cole-type D-Man for the playoffs, seasoned, more physical, and formerly an Av so there’s familiarity which helps. Good addition for a deep playoff run. He’s got to be juiced to be coming back!
